Liz, I so much agree too!  I sleep with my 3. When I 1st got Smidgen my 1st
Chi, I was already to crate train her as my Jack russell at the time was..
Smidgen had other ideas, and she cried for a week, I didn't get any sleep so I
gave in and went and brought her to bed. Was the best thing I ever did.  All
thought the 1st night Dani came home she pooped in my bed!! Dani is going to be
a year old tomorrow, and she is doing great now. She wakes me in the morning by
putting her head on my head and looking at me till I open my eyes...

My opinion, too. I heard this story several days ago.

Although uncared-for animals can potentially carry a host of nasty
things, OUR clean, healthy dogs are IMHO perfectly safe to have share our beds.

Since way back when I can first remember, I've always shared my bed
with a Chihuahua. I can't image not doing so.

One of the first things that I teach my pups is to "give a
kiss". Frankly, I'm more afraid of their catching something from me
(like if I have a cold) than I am catching something from them. If
I'm not feeling well - to protect them - I won't let them give me a
kiss. Otherwise, I love Chihuahua kisses and believe that these
little ones belong in our bed with us.

Prospective puppy buyers even get "brownie points" if they say they
plan to have their new Chi sleep in bed with them.

This is a bunch of hooey! In MY opinion.
