I for one am very happy to hear that they have been rescued. But 60 dogs
cost $40,000.00??? How is that possible? Especially since it is a private
plane.

In 2009 they shipped a load of them here in NYC and the lines were doubled
around an entire city block. People still want them here. Recently, I just
noticed a couple of new BYB posting sales on Long Island,NY

Airlift to Edmonton rescues abandoned L.A. chihuahuas
By Paula Bustamante, AFP

LONG BEACH, California, Feb 12, 2011 (AFP) -
Blame it on Paris Hilton: the craze for owning
small dogs as fashion accessories has led to an
explosion in the number of chihuahuas in Los
Angeles, where tiny canines are everywhere.

But now an animal-friendly philanthropist has
come to their rescue, organizing an airlift of
diminutive pooches abandoned by impatient owners
in California — jetting them off by private plane
to Canada, of all places.

There are 1,034,945 people in the entire
Edmonton metro area

And almost 10 million in LA County and yet
we have to spend $40,000 flying dogs to
new homes in this remote area (?)
