Yeah, it is. As I remember, the entire road from Riverside County into
Escondido used to be lined with Oleander trees to block the view of people
coming the opposite way (when it was just 395 before the new 15 was built).
They are beautiful and full. I have to be careful because a neighbor has
one and she says her dogs don't go near it. I was just thinking about that
and my two got their vomiting and diarrhea about a day after our last huge
wind storm. If I ever see the flowers in my yard, I will have to figure out
how to handle the situation in a neighborly fashion. I am the president of
the HOA and need to be very careful so as to not make a neighbor think that
they are being noticed by the HOA. I really am so nice to them because
they have a beagle and a Shih Tzu that will bark (and howl for the beagle)
for up to 15 or 20 minutes sometimes. Desi will run over that way and bark
if they are out, and when I call him back I tell him that even though he
hears other dogs barking it is not OK for him to bark. Sometimes I say it a
little louder if I know someone is out there with the dogs. They have
complained to me on Christmas Eve when I went over and brought them homemade
candy, a gift for them and toys for their dogs, that Dolly was barking that
day. I was in the kitchen and everytime that Desi barked (maybe 20 seconds
for the most to get him in) I would bring him in. So they heard the wrong
dog and it was 20 seconds and not the usual 15 minutes that theirs bark
twice a day. I could report them and have the management company send them
a letter, but they would probably know it was me, and then they might start
reporting me.although mine rarely are out there barking for more than 30
seconds.

What a shame that such a beautiful plant can be so deadly..

You do know that the oleander can be poisonous if Emiliano eats a flower (I
think.not sure if it is the entire plant) Here in Las Vegas, there are huge
communities that have forbidden anyone to have oleanders because the pollen
from them can make people severely ill if they are allergic to it.

You're right, around here none of the blooming trees are long lasting. Not
even the native ones like Mountain Laurel (not blooming yet) last very long.
The longest lasting seems to be the Oleanders and maybe it just seems that
way since they bloom all spring and summer.

I have one of these trees right across the street from me. The blooms don't
last long but so pretty while they do.
