You might want to ask about how many were in the litter…if any of the
parents have recurrent illnesses or other health issues.

As a personal experience with Desi…ask to actually see the parent dogs.
Desi had a genetic problem with his testicles, where the one testicle was
not attached to the kidney inside and it can wrap around the organs or even
grow into a huge ugly cancer.

I didn’t see Desi’s parents, and now neither of them live with the breeder
and both people that took on his parents have mysteriously moved and the
owner of the sire sold Desi’s father on Craigs List.

I was told that his parents were 4 ½ and 5 ½ pounds and Desi is a lean 9 ½
lbs.

Also ask for references…people who have purchase previous puppies, and if
possible, people who have purchased puppies with the very same parents.

Also check to see if the dewclaws have been removed. For little ones, they
can catch on things and even pull away and if the bleeding is not stopped
right away, they can actually bleed to death. This is something that
breeders should do the first couple days of the puppy’s life, but if not
done then, it is something that has be done surgically and is basically the
same as cutting off your thumb.

Subject: [Chihuahuas] Chihuahuas?

I am going to look a a male Chihuahua in a couple of days. The guy said that
the parents are small but not a tea cup. He is asking $150.00 with CKC
papers. My question is what do I ask about the pups? What questions? Any
info would be helpful. I will try to get the pics of the parents and the
pup.

I probably might be able to look at him 2morrow.
