can tell these toys have been truly loved by their owners! isn't it cute
and funny sometimes what they latch onto and cherish? when my MIL first got
her cockapoo, sam, I made her little guy an irregular shaped fabric circle
made of cotton calico (not very thick or durable fabric) and then stuffed
it. he immediately seemed smitten with his gift and favored it over all of
his wonderful store purchased toys. my mil and I laughed heartily,
thinking because of boisterous personality, I was probably going to have to
make
him one every week, but then he stunned us. we could not believe how gentle
and protective he became of his piece of fabric with stuffing. He
carried it in his mouth whenever he could; to the vet, for naps, to bed at
night,
to greet visitors that came, etc., but never outside to play or go potty,
as though he instinctively knew that would not be a good place for it. one
day when he was around 10 years of age, I was visiting and my mil pointed
out that he still had his 'security' fabric circle that had only been
gently washed when she could sneak it away from him. amazingly,
sam treasured and kept his fabric toy until the day he passed away at age
16.

Dolly & Desi have two little stuffed blue dogs. The love them and play
tug of war on them. Dolly likes to have it with her when she sleeps
sometimes. They love them so much, that they have practically loved them to
death!
