Years ago we went to visit with a friend and her children that we met at swim lessons and the day they asked us to their home for a play date, they had just gotten a new refrigerator. Her children and mine rolled all over the friend's backyard for hours and hours inside the box the refrigerator had come in and my two compained for a year about why couldn't we get a new refrigerator too, so they could play in a box (ha). By the time we did get a new fridge they were too much older to be interested in rolling around in a box even though I reminded them how much they had wanted one. I have found that many of the smallest, least expensive toys are the ones that mine want to play with most of the time. I do believe that they remember circumstances of getting a toy or who it was from and then they know it is special. He carried it in his mouth whenever he could; to the vet, for naps, to bed at night, to greet visitors that came, etc., but never outside to play or go potty, as though he instinctively knew that would not be a good place for it. one day when he was around 10 years of age, I was visiting and my mil pointed out that he still had his 'security' fabric circle that had only been gently washed when she could sneak it away from him. amazingly, sam treasured and kept his fabric toy until the day he passed away at age 16. lynn In a message dated 3/27/2011 10:39:10 P.M.
