We drove across one early May and it really was lovely. Fields of blue...
and the red flowers, what are they?

Very few Bluebonnets this year, much too dry. I went further South this past
weekend, to Laredo (abuts the Mexican border), usually the drive between
Austin, San Antonio and Laredo is an unforgettable view of wildflowers but not
this year. I am going to look for photos from previous years (I usually take
trips out into the country to find the best patches fo wildflowers to
photograph) to show you the beauty of Texas in the Springtime.

I have heard about that. I was actually thinking about it a few posts back
when thinking about all the fires and wondering when all the bluebonnets were
supposed to be blooming.

Peggy, in a good year, with lots of rain, our State flower, the Bluebonnet
forms a blanket of blooms along our highways and in the fields. This photo is
one I took last year. A sea of Bluebonnets.
