Well, I am not sure that I saw the picture of the winner the first time. I saw it with Valerie’s comment. If that was the winning picture, then there sure couldn’t have been many entrants.
Also…yes that dog is not just fat, but mega fat! My vet would probably have a lot to say to that owner if they brought her to him! A few days ago, on another Chihuahua Group, there was a conversation thread about switching to a different food which had more protein and the Chihuahua gained 2 pounds within a month. The owner said that regardless if the weight was fat or extra muscle mass, it was still too much weight for a dog with such skinny legs to carry around. I tend to agree with that. I don’t think that my vet weighs the dogs correctly. Dolly’s weight can fluctuate a pound up and down and sometimes that is within 2 weeks. Then the last time they weighed Desi he was 8.1 pounds and they said Dolly was 8.0 pounds. When I pick up Dolly and then pick up Desi, there is way more difference than .1 pounds. I do believe that Desi has gotten down to 8.1 because he is longer but he has a very narrow bone structure. Dolly is shorter and her bones are wider. But in the pick one up and then the other…there is a big difference between the two. So they probably have to hold Dolly down a little to get the weight and they are putting some of their weight pressure on to her weight. I am not so sure that I would take them to the post office to weigh them, but sometimes there are sales on scales. Perhaps some people have garage sales and they put the baby scales out. I guess I should watch for stuff like that.
