I've been adding about a tablespoon of organic pumpkin to Pia's food since I
noticed her straining every time she needed to have a poo. A week later, this
finally seems to have done the trick paired with a higher quality food - as
opposed to whatever she'd been given in the shelter.

The only thing that would be a bigger relief than not having a dog straining,
and almost falling over, when she goes to the toilet is having a dog that was
not suffering from a hacking cough. But I will take what I can get when I can
get it.

There is truth to the saying that there is nothing as under appreciated as a
good poo.

It's still vaguely amusing that this is one of the triumphs of the week - a dog
that can go to the toilet without the pain of straining like a little a
constipated hippo.
