It is with great sadness I have to say that Theresa and I lost our little girl Choxi today.She was are first puppy mill rescue. We believe she was about 12 years old. Choxi was diagnosed with Cushings about two years ago. Cushings itself is not a death sentence but it makes life for your pup (and you) hard. We were treating the Cushings with Trilostane. It was under control up until the last few weeks. Choxi a month ago starting having seizures. The first one we noticed was after she fell down the stairs, I had a niece pick her up, she sat her on the ground. Choxi took about three steps and then fell over stiff. I went over to pick her up to see if she was OK. I held her for a minute and she had a bowel movement when I was holding her. Keep holding her, walk over to my wife and we checked her out. She seemed OK after that. I do not know if she had a seizure before she fell or not. This week we noticed she was not eating that much but still drinking. Her peeing picked up again but that may be related to the Cushings. Theresa took her took the vet in the morning. They checked her urine, stool, x-rays, blood, ...... The intestinal track was clear but stomach was bloated more that normal. Bloated stomach is one of the signs of Cushings. We had a ultrasound schedule for later this week. When Theresa left the vet office we knew there was an infection somewhere and were still trying to determine what was going on after we got more information from the ultrasound. Later in the afternoon Choxi had a few more seizures to where she vomited and could not breath. Theresa took her back to the vet but even after administering drugs for the seizure there was nothing they could really do for her.
