2 of our 3 Chi's chew their nails but it is usually in conjunction with cleaning out their ears. They use their paws like a Q-tip to clean their ears then lick off their paw and chew the nails a bit as a result. Our dainty girl seems obsessed by the hair between her back toes. she licks and licks at it like she wants it out of there. It is like a ritual she does before she goes to sleep. None of the chewing/licking causes any hot spots or anything problematic so we just let 'em do it! It's such a dog thing! Sue MI
