Oh, I am so happy to hear that your mom is now home. I had the bone removed from my hip when I had my lumbar/sacral fusion…and that is the most painful thing that I remember when the nurses asked me if I wanted to get up and walk a few hours after surgery. Oh…my…gosh!!!
So very painful. I knew that her little chis would know to be sweet, gentle and somehow they know where the hurting parts are! Please give her my regards and let her know that it really does get better from here. When she is feeling better and feeling up to email, she can email me direct…[email protected]. Thanks for your update, Amanda. The chis have been very gentle with her and are avoiding her hip where they drilled a piece of bone out. She cant lift more than ten pounds so poor Brownie at twelve pounds can only sit in her lap or next to her. But I think he and the others are just thrilled that shes home. Anyone can get in touch with me for her email, address and or phone number. She would greatly appreciate any contact. <http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/tsmileys2/40.gif> Have A Beautiful Day, Each And Every Day! <http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/tsmileys2/40.gif> _____ From: Joan Croft <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Thursday, August 4, 2011 12:25 PM Subject: RE: [Chihuahuas] OT: Mom's Surgery Hi Amanda, Did your Mom have a cervical fusion? I have had three of those, and so please tell her that I am thinking about her and hoping that she will be out of the hospital and home as soon as possible. I had Dolly only 6 months when I had a cervical fusion. Before I went to the hospital she wanted to play all of the time, but somehow she could sense what was wrong. She was very sweet and gentle when I came home and she never got near to my neck. Six months after that, I had some major lumbar spine surgery. Before that surgery, Dolly would sleep behind me and close to my lumbar spine. When I got home, she didn’t sleep there anymore. She started sleeping behind me, but up near my neck. Both of these times it was like she knew where there was something wrong and knew that she needed to adapt to help me. A couple months after that surgery I got Desi. I think that the first surgery that I had after that was the brain tumor removal this past May. When I came home, both Dolly & Desi started laying in front of me and closer to my chest instead of my head. These little Chihuahuas are very smart and very intuitive. I can only speak for my two, but I am assuming that when your Mom comes home that her chis will be very sweet and gentle and know to avoid hurting her. Please let us know when she gets home. Give tummy tickles to Candi, Fudge, and Brownie (what cute names!) from me and tell them that Dolly & Desi send them puppy kisses. As for you, Amanda, please take care of yourself. In my experience, I actually think the whole surgery thing is harder for the family members and friends because of the unknown…you can’t feel the pain but you are so worried. She is still in the hospital and recovering. An infection with a high fever set her back today but hopefully she will be home in the next few days. Please be praying for her and her three chihuahuas (Candi, Brownie and Fudge) who dont quite understand that they will need to be gentle with momma when she does come home. They just miss her and my stepdad, who has been staying at the hospital with her. Anyone who wants to send her a letter or an email or even a phone call can email me for her information. She would love to hear from people.
