I found a Chihuahua that has been very badly neglected, and have been trying to
get him back in good health. He is very thin and doesn't have a lot of energy.
I took him to the vet a few days ago just to have him checked out and to get
some food that would be easy on his stomach, since the Taste of the Wild that I
feed my Lab didn't really agree with him. They ran some tests (Parvo,
Heartworms, other worms, etc.)which all came back negative, gave him fluids and
de-wormed him and sent us home with Purina ED and some powder to replenish good
bacteria in his digestive tract. The food they gave me has been easier on him,
but he is still having bowel issues. He is 2 to 3 lbs underweight, so I don't
know if he is just having a hard time processing anything or if there may be
something else that is wrong. Is it normal for Chihuahuas to have sensitive
stomachs? Also, he takes a while to get around to doing his business outside
and doesn't really let me know when he needs to go out. I watch him constantly
make sure that he goes outside instead of in the house, but it is making me a
nervous wreck, and I know that doesn't help him. Any tips would be appreciated!
He is about 2 or 3 yrs old according to the vet, and only 2.9 lbs, but is very
sweet and has a great little personality.
