Thank you all for the wonderful advice. I am using Advantix 2 on Trooper for
fleas...it is working better than the Frontline, but I'm still seeing a flea or
two each day. I'll probably try Advantage or Revolution next time. I can buy
them in single dose applications at the local pet store. The fleas have been
horrible here in SC. I don't know why they're so bad this year.
Trooper is still having some accidents at the kitchen door, but again, I'm
happy it's not on the carpet. For the past week he has appeared to be "holding
it" longer than before. That is good news. Perhaps it's because he is getting
older and his bladder is developing more. I switched his food from Natural
Balance to Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul and he is pooping less now.
The Natural Balance, although really good, was making him poop A LOT. I also
started adding a tiny bit of fish oil to his food for Omega 3. I read that
fish oil was much easier for dog's bodies to assimilate than plant based oils.
Trooper will be getting neutered next Tuesday...I'm a little bit nervous about
it. You just never know what will happen when you put small dogs under
anesthesia. My mini poodle Lily didn't do very well when she got spayed. She
was terribly sick for days. Luckily Trooper is a tough little guy. Didn't
make a peep when he got his puppy shots...the vet seemed quite surprised by
that. When he got his rabies shot a small lump appeared under the skin at the
injection site. It had grown to the size of a very large pea but now seems to
be slowly disappearing.
Thanks again everyone for your help!
Lisa
