I just joined today; my husband and I recently adopted two beautiful little
chihuahua pups. JJ (the male) is about six months old and Layla (our female)
is about four months old. We got JJ first - the timing was not the best, as I
was the full-time caregiver for my brother, Jim, who was living with us. JJ
bonded to him immediately, and on the day of my brother's passing, JJ was
laying on the bed, next to him, and it seemed to comfort my brother. Two weeks
after, we decided to get Layla as a companion to JJ. We love both of
them--they are wonderful bundles of love, but now that my husband is home more
(he was driving semi and working the fields for the corn pack) JJ seems deathly
afraid of him. Previously he was fine with him, but now, it's difficult for my
husband to even get him to come near. JJ either runs away or looks at him in
fear. I wonder if my brother's passing has anything to do with it, and the
abrupt change in the household?
I'm glad to be here, and will be anxious to learn more about this beautiful
breed. BTW, JJ is a deerhead Chihuahua, and Layla is an applehead--and they
both play together so well!! Looking forward to chatting with all of you,
