Yup - did the crate and the leash too.  We crated him when we first got him.
The crate was borrowed, and we had to return it after about a month.  Then we
barricaded all three in the back room when we were at work (the room with with
the dog door) and let him sleep with us at night.  We thought we could trust
him, and he will do fine for several days, and then he forgets.  He has squatted
right in front of me, 10 feet from the dog door, even when we take him out
every hour.  We even have Pepper trained to take him outside - we tell her
"Take him outside" and she runs out and he follows.  He is roughly 11 months
old and we have been working with him for almost 5 months. I have been owning
dogs for 30+ years - the usual tricks are not working with him.  He needs
owners that are not at work all day and who have the energy to keep up with him.

>> I agree, Raven.  Crate him until you can trust him to be left out.

This of course...is when you are not home or can not supervise him.
You can also keep him on short lease and attach the lease to
him...when you are home.

Put him out to potty...after meals, after drinking, after playing,
after waking up, etc...etc.

How old is he?
