Hi all, I still have to just read all my email at once in this cold room. I got my computer back via UPS today and I opened up the box and the documentation pretty much said nothing was wrong. I immediately got on the phone to Geek Squad and the gal there suggested that I take it in to the location that I orignially did. I explained to her why I would not go there so she gave me the phone number of the location about 10 miles away. I called and explained everthing to the gal there and she talked to her manager and he said to bring it in. I took it all - had not removed the laptop from the box that it was delivered in - and one of the guys opened the box and he pressed the button to turn it on...and of course...it started up fine for him. He let it go through whatever it does and he told me that the service center had re-installed the operating system and the computer was like a new computer...except all of my files are gone! I had to explain the long story to them and he is keeping it and running specific tests to check the hardware of the computer...unlike the service center that didn't read a word of what I wrote on the form and decided that if it doesn't boot to the OS then it meant that they had to reinstall it. I am so very upset. When I got home, I did go online chat with teh geek squad and the agent was very apologetic but said that unless the computer does not go past the Toshiba screen that they cannot determine what is wrong with it. I asked if I should video tape it when I turn it on and it stays on the Toshiba screen and he said that isn't even good enough because they have to do diagnostic things while it is stuck. By the time that I would unplug it and drive to the store it would have surpassed the 15 minutes that it takes to go to the OS after sticking on the Toshiba screen. I am hoping and praying that they find out what is wrong with it. They said that the repairs are warranted for 30 days from the date of service so if it acts up again it would still be covered...but it has to do it for them. If they do get it stuck on the Toshiba screen and cannot diagnosis the problem then they would give me a new laptop. At this point, a new laptop is not going to take any more time to transfer my files from the backup drive than my computer will. So, the store that has it now said it will take 2-5 days for their diagnostics and if they do find a hardware problem then if it is fixable it has to be sent back to the service center to be fixed...that would be another whole week. I can read some of my email from my android phone but if there are any pictures, any graphics, it will not open. So like today I replied to a couple but had to wait until I could come and sit in this cold bedroom to read and reply to all of the emails. This has been a long 10 days or so for me, so I am very tired and don't have much energy. Having to get up early and wait for the UPS delivery two days in a row has only added to my tiredness. Don't worry about me if I don't reply every day. I have a feeling that tomorrow I may be in bed most of the day because I couldn't take my meds twice for the last three days. I feel like I just got into an accident. Dolly & Desi are being very sweet and they run in here when I am on the computer and I just carry the big throws to put over them. Except Desi Lou doesn't always want to be in his bed under the blankets...he sits on the floor and cries and then when I look at him he jumps into my lap. He has taken Dolly's place between my blouse and my jacket. It is either that or in his bed because I cannot type and be dodging his kisses and moving around. I hope that all of you have a good weekend. I hope that Heather has less anxiety attacks and quick healing (ginger ale, and ginger snaps help with the medication nausea); I hope that Tilly continues to get well; and Charlotte Rose does well with her potty training and Judy Moon's famiy of pups all stay healthy at one time. If I missed someone in all of this, I apologize. And...anyone that is a veteran...Happy Veteran's Day and Thank You for Serving Our Country.
