Metacam smells like ferrets don't you think?  (but I do taste just about
everything that goes into my dogs - I think I remember it being a little on the
sweet side)....

I use it so much I kind have gotten fond of that smell...LOL

Are you giving him liquid meds through a syringe?  A chi should really have as
much as they can through a syringe.  There was something that Dolly had that
she kept spitting out…I called the vet’s office to see if they could give her a
pill that I could put in a pill pocket.  They vet’s office said to bring her in
and they would show me how to do it…now keep in mind that Dolly had quite a
sick little life as far as how many meds I had given her to this point.  The
nice, sweet female vet that was following Dolly after her surgery came into the
room and drew up the proper amount of the medication and proceeded to show me
how to do it.  It looked exactly like I do it…and Dolly spit it all back over
the vet’s face and coat!!!  We got pills for the pill pockets after that one!

The Metacam smelled bad to me, so I cannot imagine that it tastes too good…so
maybe whichever meds he doesn’t want to take has to be changed.  Sometimes I
mix a liquid med with some pedialyte and a little canned food, but when the
meds taste horrible, Dolly won’t eat that either.

Good luck!

They sent him home on metacam - antiinflammatory and tramadol for pain. Plus an
antibiotic.

He is feeling better today, and is really fighting taking his medicine. He was
fighting so hard he cried out. That made me cry, so I gave up. But he really
needs his pain med, any ideas?

He walked about 15 ft and stood up from laying down all by himself today :)

I can't attach a photo, so I will add some to a George post luxating patella
surgery album
