I sure hope that he can calm down a bit. I was lucky that Dolly is usually low key.I had her zipped in the stroller, and Desi (7 months old) was jumping from the floor up the front rim of the stroller and then up to the top covering.and I was coming back in the room when he looked like he was ready to jump down.one knee surgery was all that I could handle just then. I don't know what would happen if he had to have knee surgery. I probably would have to sedate him. He has become a Mommy's boy, so I guess he would be happy with me holding him all day long, but then I don't get anything done.
Good luck and just start counting down the days until he can be running around again. George is the sweetest guy, usually so mellow and happy all the time. He is much more well adjusted than Rylie, who I didn't adopt until she had been in shelters for over a year. That is why this is so hard right now. I love them so much, I don't want them to feel anything but that from me. George has his favorite chew toys, bully sticks and frozen kongs constantly, he isn't interested in any of them. I also put a treat puzzle in with him, he sniffed it and has just ignored it. Also, I have had him in a playpen since the day I brought him home from surgery, rather than his crate because he can stretch out and get comfy AND see me and Rylie constantly. This pen is what he decided to try to jump out of :( The sedative is definitely the answer, I just have to bite the bullet and call the vet again to ask for something different. I feel a little bit like they think this is something I should be able to do without drugs, keep my dog calm. I am thinking maybe only one or two doses of something would break the cycle and let his little body relax. Maybe he would go back to being calm, happy George.
