The bell open part has to be smaller than your dog's toe nail can get caught
on.

Desi has a way that he lays down and puts his tags between his feet and
licks them to death too when he is cleaning himself. If any of your dogs do
that, I think I would not put it on that dog. You can put the bell on their
harness, but with multiple dogs you do need to watch when another one is
playing with one that has the bells also.

Subject: [Chihuahuas] Bells

I want to get a bell to put on each of my dog's collars. But I have heard
that some bells are dangerous. Can anyone tell me what kind of bell would
be safe. Also I am starting to get a mesh harness for each of my dogs. I
don't like using a leash attached to a collar because I've heard of the
dangers to their throats.
