Hello everyone…. Captncarl06 here. I would like to pass along some information regarding Chihuahuas and seizures. I have had Mr. Caesar since he was 8 weeks old. He had a very rough beginning and we almost lost him 3 times during his first year. He also has an enlarged heart Grade 3 and a heart murmur. (Mitral Valve Prolapse – I know about those I have one too). He also is allergic to who knows what? But like the Bee sting that almost killed him during his first year of life with us, @ 1 ml of Benadryl when given in a timely manner can usually reverse the effects of the allergies within 15 minutes or so. @ 2 ml for the bee sting. The first time he almost died was misdiagnosed "kennel cough" and the disaster that followed. I posted this information in the files section under "Mr. Caesar and the near fatal kennel cough 1". (Photos of the "Leaking Molera" accompanying this story are in the photos section under Mr. Caesar.) A Leaking Molera shown in these photos is something my vet and his associates have never seen prior to last week. It IS a serious life threatening occurrence. This is a must read for anyone with a new Chihuahua – it just may save his/her life. Most of the trial and error and groundwork has already been done and is explained there. I wish there were something like this available when my little boy first experienced seizures, it would have cut through so much wasted time and unnecessary suffering and wasted time spent on procedures that did not work and went right to the source and proper diagnosis and treatment.
