As far as the little bitty issue, I have had two of those..just love my little bitties lol. Bino is 3 lbs sometimes..not a foodie..lol.  Of course you always worry about anesthetic..whatever their size.  But with the pre-blood work and the quality of the anesthetics, it is a very small risk.  I did have to wait longer than I would have liked to have Bino neutered..until he finally made two pounds. I like to do them before they start marking but he didnt make 2 lbs until he was eight months old.  That said he was fine and was fine the two other times he had to go under just lately for a teeth cleaning.  Sometimes, like people, you have to take the risk for the sake of their health.  With keeping a male intact, the cancer issue and prostrate issue is so great because you have those hormones constantly pumping through their bodies..not to mention the extra aggressiveness.  My husbands Jack Russell was not neutered when I met him.  For some reason guys have a problem whacking their dog's equipment off lol.  The vet and I finally convinced him to get him neutered and teeth cleaned last year..his teeth were rotten.  He was 14 years old.  His prostrate was so huge he could not hold his urine anymore and talk about aggressive..my chis were not safe around him.  What a huge difference it made healthwise and attitude wise.

Just for the record, I am well aware that there are plenty of chi's that are too small to be spayed/neutered, or have health issues and that it would be too risky for them to have the surgery. I am sure that for those people they are exceptionally careful that there females don't get pregnant because it would be equally risky for them. I can only hope that they are just as careful with their males.

No one on here is flaming any body, and my post wasn't sent to you, but a reply to some one else, so no one told You how to love your dogs.

Anyway... Jake is an intact male.
I support you in your love of your pets. I hope you feel the same toward me. But, please don't presume to tell me HOW to love mine best.
