I remember when I was a kid and we took our Chihuahua/Fox Terrier mix to the vet. He, and all the other dogs would put on their 'brakes' when they got to the door from the outside to the inside. When I got Dolly, I carried her in the first time.3.2 pounds and sick, but every time that I take her - and now Desi - they are so happy to go inside. I see other dogs walking right in. I have only once seen a dog putting on the 'brakes' and that might have been due to another vet down the line? I just have to say 'Dr Bullard' and my two are so excited and come running.when I get to the vet's office, they both run in because they love coming. Rarely do I see them even hesitant to be carried to the back, but Dolly having the hernia surgery - she was a bit hesitant the next time. The vet and Tech actually took out her stitches in the little room and I was tickling her very soft neck fur. Desi.I think he would rather stay there than come home.
I think that the dogs - and probably cats - can smell the other dogs and cats hormones or whatever they leave when they are happy or sad. I am so glad that I have a good vet that Dolly & Desi love.
