Or an easier alternative would be if someone from the list near there could go in and adopt him, an easy process from a shelter, and then you would have make arrangements to get him to you.

The TX rescue will board him until the paper work and his shots are done, neutered, and transport is made, and you are approved by a rescue. You can call the TX shelter and ask them for names and numbers/email addresses of rescues that they work with and take it from there. Also call rescues here in NY and see who can make the arrangements on your behalf. Just beware that once a dog is listed like this one they only have 5 days, so phone calls will be faster then emails and timing is extremely important. Your first priority is to get him pulled out of the shelter into a rescue, or he is not safe. Where in NY are you? Do you definitely, with no hesitations, want him as a furever pup?
