Hi everyone,
I have a six pound female Chi that my son foundcwandering alone in the park
seven years ago. No one claimed her which was good because she was meant to be
with me. I have a rare, genetic blood disease that leaves me in quite alot of
pain and the one medicine that works the best is my Josephine.
Anyway, about two months ago I felt a little pea sized growth on her flank and
all of a sudden it doubled in size. I took her to our regular vet who removed
it but the biopsy results said it was a mast cell tumor. We took her for a
consult with an oncologist to the CARES Clinic, a 24 hr emergency animal
hospital that has many vets trained at the university of penn and speacialize
in every imaginable field. They ordered further studies from the biopsied
masscand everything came back wondeful. So imagine my surprise when four weeks
later it had re-grown to almost twice the size of the original tumor!
Today she is in surgery at CARES where they have an actual vet surgeon.
I have been cleaning out drawers all day to stay busy but then my other chi, a
long haired rescue from a puppy mill, needed to go out and I was suddenly aware
that josephine isnt here. I am so upset about this. My partner had to leave
work because she could not stop crying.
Josephine is one of those rare Chis who is devoted to both me and my partner
and our 14 yr-old daughter. She even adores my 5 yr-old grandson who used to
like to make her growl when he was smaller., lol gen
The oncologist told us it shouldnt be happening according to her
