Lisa, We have 2 Chi's. Rico is afraid of children and if any do come into our home I will put him in another room with a kong with peanut butter. Scout will tolerate respectful children petting him with close supervision but probably would not want to play with them or have any more interaction than that. That being said, I have read about and heard about grandparents training their grand-kids to sit quietly on the floor and allow the Chi to approach them for treats or petting and having it work out ok. The parents/grand-kids have to be fully on board with it though. When in doubt, protect the dog by removing it from any chance of being afraid enough to bite. Sue
