Peggy, have you tried PetzLife Gel for Gigi? It comes in mint and salmon
flavor. I put a little on my finger and smear it on a few of the front teeth.
Then when it mixes with thecsaliva from her licking it, enzymes are formed to
break down tartar. If you can brush her teeth twice a week to remove any
loosened tartar, that will help more. You could avoid dentals that way. Ihave
mint for Dolly & Desi.

Busy year for you and your family. I am finally retired and loving it! Gigi
s seizures have stopped as well, although you can see some slight brain
damage. She has some liver issues and I think the anesthesia from when she
was spayed triggered the seizures, because right after the surgery she
refused to drink water, or any fluids for almost 3 months, during which time
I had to soak her kibble and syringe her a couple of times a day. I really
think that was the beginning of it all. Sometimes she still displays some
weird behavior type of seizure, but it only last for a few minutes but, I am
more inclined to think it is brain damage, since now she is aware of things
and me when she gets like that, where as before she was out in space. She is
now on a low protein and low fat kibble, and doing much better. She cannot
have any of the natural foods or natural treats that have Rosemary in them,
as that seems to trigger a seizure. Your pack is on a raw diet which is a
high protein diet. Seizure dogs have to be on a protein of 21% or less, or
they will be prone to seizures. This is working for Gigi so far and it has
helped to defray the use of phenobarbital. It has also helped her to loose
1/2 lb, which is a good thing. I so wish that we had non-anesthesia teeth
cleaning Vets here like you have in CA. Gigi is going to need it again, and
I am so afraid of the anesthesia, since that is what triggered the seizures
to begin with. I don't know what else to do.

Princess is well and thank God, strong as a horse and no medical issues, not
even bad teeth! Happy, the yellow-collar mini macaw will be 23yrs old this
week and Rainbow, the Green-Cheek Conure will be 22yrs old in July. Happy is
now nasty, because she/he is at the mature breeding age and is so frustrated
Actually, I think she is a he. Sad fact, but so many of the larger parrots
get this way once they reach full adult age, which is why people get rid of
them. Rainbow is still a sweety and loves to be groomed. I know that she is
a female because she layed eggs at 16 and 17 years old, but for months
before she laid those eggs she was nasty and then afterwards went back to
her sweet old self.

I could never buy a dog on breeder/show terms only to loose the dog a year
later. Once I own a dog it stays with me forever. I would rather have a pet
then some ribbons in a box. I just couldn't do it any other way. When you
have those terms, who gets her puppies? I am happy for Nugget, atleast the
med is working and that has to be a big relief for her.

Is Logan and Toby neutered? Since you have so many unspayed females, I can't
see how else you could control them. I really would love to see some pics of
all of them, especially Madison. She was a puppy the last time I saw a
picture of her.

Here are a couple of current pics of my girls:

Hi Peggy,

Shuai Li is living with her breeder...she wanted to finish her out and breed
her...I most likely will be getting her back in about a year or two. She is
doing really well...I just didn't want to do the show thing anymore!! My
last years of it left kind of a bitter taste in my mouth. We kind of co
owned her...yet paperwork wise she is all mine, but Michelle really thought
she might turn out to be something...wanted me to agree to show her...which
I did. But she is into it way more than I want to be so agreed to let her do
it.

Toby, the ESS has always gone back and forth between my daughters and mine..
same with Bella the Pom. Both actually belong to her but they have been
fighting to keep their house for the last few years and just recently lost
it completely...so both Bella and Toby are here with me...Bella will stay
here until Andrea gets all settled in their new home and Toby will remain
here forever...although Bella may too...it depends on their new landlord.
Andreas old house had 5 acres...Toby loved to be there...they had sheep and
goats for him to herd and he loved the horses too. But with them losing
everything, he will have to be happy here. We only have 1/2 an acre but we
do a lot of hiking and he has slowed down just a bit...so now he is very
happy inside with mama and the pack.

Maxine the Pit is my sons dog...once he moved back home here so did she. She
is a great dog but doesn't do well with the littles so she stays with him.
The way our property and home is, it's kind of divided into two sections..
Jimmy has his own section and Maxine has her own little yard connected to
Jimmy's part of the house. It's nice because she can come inside through his
doggie door and into his rooms and I don't have to worry about her getting
too rough with the littles!! I don't think I ever claimed her in my sig but
I figure I feed her and hike with her more than he does so I added her into
it lol!! She has been here about two years now.

Losing Caleb was really a tough one!! He was so good and gentle with
everyone and really felt it his job to protect everyone...I never worried
about our house, my kids or grands or any of the dogs as he would die to
defend them!! He was a great hiking dog and I could hike with the Littles as
long as he was there...never an issue with coyotes, bears or mountain lions
with Caleb in tow!! He has left a huge hole in our hearts and lives!! We are
not too sure exactly what happened...at 10 pm I let him out in the back for
final potty before bed...at 10:20 I let him back in...he was whining
miserably and unable to move the last half of his body. We think he fell or
slipped off the last step...we went that night to the emergency vet...they
did exrays and gave him pain meds till we could get in that morning to our
regular vet. He had blown out his disc. He would be permanently paralyzed
and in pain...so our option was for him to be put down. I miss him sooooo
much!!

Logan was added the week before Caleb's accident...friends had a beautiful
litter of Shepherds and gave us one!! He is coming along great!! He loves
the littles...and they just adore him!!

We finally got Nuggets seizures under control. After playing with every
natural remedy known to mankind, changing everything we could discover...and
making a dent but never completely eliminating them, we turned to Pheno....I
sure didnt want to but I just wanted the seizures completely gone...we will
just have to deal with the affects of the pheno if they come!!

I do think there has been a new Grand added since I've been off list...baby
Olive is turning 5 months old. She was born almost exactly one year...by a
few days...after Andrea lost Eleanor. She is such a chubby bunny!! Cameron
turned 3 yesterday, Jack is going to be 5 in July and Evelyn turns 6 in
January. Their oldest, Lori just turned 14.

Baxter, my son in the Army, is just finishing up his first deployment in
Afghanistan. It has been absolutely horrible...he lost so many of his
friends...he went to Kandahar with 68 and they are returning with less than
1/2.... Hardest time in my life and I'm way sure harder for him!! We are
actually picking him up today from LAX for 30 day leave...then he goes back
to Ft Drum in NY. ,....but hopefully not another deployment...we are
praying!

My hubby is on his last year before retirement...yeah!! We can't wait!!!
Nope...never moved...in this market we wouldn't make a dime selling...so we
are in the process of adding on. My sewing business is going pretty well..
keeps me busy anyway...about 5-10 orders a week but then I'll hit a little
lull and have a week or so off...so it's been really nice.

That's the news from the dog park....so what has been happening with you!!?

Well I see from your signature that your pack has changed. What happened to
Shuai-Li, the Shih-Tzu?

Don't remember you ever mentioning that you had a Pom, or a Pitty before and
what is a ESS? Logan is a puppy so I guess you recently got him too. Boy
have you been busy, LOL! Sorry to hear about Caleb, he was still young,
what happened? Pictures of all the new guys please!!

Hope the kids and hubby are all well. Anymore grandkids added to the family?
Did you ever move like you wanted to?
