Sue, I think it is wonderful of you to volunteer and give those poor babies
some love time. The shelters here rarely list the tiny ones on a website too
and when they do, it is usually because they only have a couple of days
left. What is even more upsetting is that my local shelters won't work with
rescues either. There are groups that have been trying to change that policy
for years. Since the workers know you at your shelter, have you ever asked
them why they don't publicly list them? I asked our shelter once and all I
got was ''because it is our policy''. I said to the women, ''that for the
life of me, I can't understand why you would want to kill them, rather then
find them homes....seems very inhumane to me, and I wouldn't be able to
sleep nights, if I knew that I didn't do everything possible to save each
and every life that comes through the door.'' She got ticked off and walked
away.

We had an incident here a couple of years ago, where the Officer in charge
of the shelter and a couple of co-workers were caught on tape, when it came
time to put a cat down. They laughed and joked about it, they called the cat
some pretty awful names and were very cold and callous when they used the
catch pole on him and dragged him to the gallows. That cat was seen on tape
rubbing against the wire cage and purring for attention, so there was no
reason for the catch pole except that the humans don't have a soul. There
was an investigation and other tapes were released. Horrific tapes. Guess
what, that women is still the officer in charge and only got paid time off
to 'reassess her methods' while they were investigating and given a
reprimand. I think that through the years of doing that type of work,
people become de-sensitized. Others will follow their boss for fear of being
fired. So very sad for all the animals in there trust.

West Michigan. They are at Harbor Humane Society. It is a kill shelter but
they rarely put the little ones down. For some reason they don't put many of
the little ones online either. We also have the cutest black and white
Pomeranian right now. He looks very well bred and is very friendly. don't
know how old he is but he is cute as a bug. I feel blessed just being able
to go and walk/cuddle them.

Am sending prayers too. Any news this morning? I walked all the tiny dogs
at the shelter yesterday. We have 2 of the sweetest senior male Chi's. One
is barely 4 pounds and has just 1 tooth. They are such dear souls. Thank
God they make every effort possible before they Euth the little ones!
Is a very good sign that his bloodwork is OK.
Be Blessed,
Sue

Just got back from the Vet Er. Had to leave my baby there..so upset..crying
myself sick. Tino went to jump off the couch and his legs went right from
under him and he fell. Then he couldn't walk at all and was twitching all
over..tongue hanging out..completely disoriented. Thought he had a head or
neck injury. He was crying and crying..
Took him to ER and they think that he injested something. What, how, and
where I don't know but he was showing overdose or seizure signs..don't know
what yet. They will call me with results of blood work but I had to leave
him there crying like that. Breaking my heart waiting..
