My husband and I rescued a little chihuahua mix from a busy street. He was
running through traffic and somehow averted getting run over! We did everything
possible to find the owners, they don't seem to want to be found. He wasn't
even chipped in this day and age! We decided to keep him rather than pass him
off to a shelter or another home. We love him now like a member of the family.
We have a very old pitbul at home... only took a few days and some growls and
teeth showing (from the chihuahua), he seems fine now. Hard to tell if he has
been house trained. The first day he had 2 accidents in the house.... AFTER he
was taken out side. Since then, he has been pretty good. I've noticed somewhat
of a pattern and I don't know if it's typical of these small dogs. He seems to
pee once in the a.m. and poop once in the afternoon and that is it. I have him
confined at night and during the day when we're gone and his area is dry and
clean. Is this a normal pattern for these guys?
Also, I believe he is a mix of Italian Greyhound and Chihuahua. Is this common?
He is small like a chihuahua but built like a greyhound.
He also has a funny way of eating. He will take one kibble out of his dish and
carry it to the family room and eat it... then repeat!
Any advice on the routines would be helpful!!
