Mine aren't trained to do anything. I have my downstairs made into a
monkey play room, it's really fun, swings, slides, etc. The grand kids
love to play down there too. I don't let kids & monkeys play at the
same time.
I got into monkeys because my last adopted daughter was 11 years younger
than the last kid. All the others we adopted were older. When she was
10, she wanted a younger sibling, after watching the movie Monkey
Trouble, we simply bought a Capuchin baby, Merlin.
He was everything we wanted, and grew to be the perfect brother for
her. They grew up like baby brother & older sister, then we met other
primate owners and met other primates we loved and went from there.
When you commit to a primate, it's a life long commitment. Mine don't
really do tricks, per say, but they are amazing to interact with. Link
has a habit of playing catch, he tosses things and catches them. He
also catches birds all the time, the first time we saw him do this,
Madison yelled at him, "Link let that bird go"!! He ever so gently
opened up his hands allowing the bird to fly away. He's never hurt a
bird, with him, it's the catch & release system.
Disney enters a room full of people and goes from person to person
giving each of them a kiss & hickey on their neck. He's a social
butterfly, I was offered 100,000 for him by a man who owns a harley
dealership. Of course I refused, how can you put a price on your
furbabies? But I was flattered by the offer.
My monkeys are all trained to be themselves. None of them bite, and all
of them are social. It's taken 2 years for my Tiki to get social, but
she's getting there. She'll be 3 on Valentine's day.
Hope is probably the most loved by all our friends. She's so sweet,
very protective of the other animals. If there is a problem she is the
peace keeper. She is a gibbon & the most human like of them all.
