Hello Diana,

What a worthless, when she cut your dogs nails into the quick. That’s so
extremally painful. Indeed, no wonder that he cried.
The reason to let the vet cut the nails of a dog (or other pet) is to prevent
that, when you would do that youtrself, it goes wrong and you cut into the
quick.
This should never happen when a vet does this. She didn’t deserve to get payed
for clipping his nails, doing it so badly. Get rid of that vet!

Greetings from the Netherlands,
Rita

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh, that is a sweet story and gives me hope. One thing I did notice
today is that his nails were cut way into the quick on most of them. He cried
really loudly when this was done. No wonder:( She did tell me that
she would suggest if I take him anywhere to be worked on in any way to muzzle
him.
I would rather have the muzzle than something happen to someone or my dog.
Thank you for sharing with me Sandra.

I had a Daschund who was the sweetest dog…..except when she had her nails
trimmed. I had to take her to the vet and muzzle her, groomers wouldn’t touch
her. If that’s the only time he snaps or bites, just muzzle him. Won’t kill
him, it’s not a fate worse than death. There are some dogs who have that one
thing they just won’t tolerate.

Had a basset who was a total love, even with the vet. Until you put him on the
table…get out the muzzle. Once he was off the table, back to a total mush.

Sandy

I am Diana from Washington. I have written about Kiko (7 yr) and Pawko (8 mo).
previously. Today I took Pawko to the vet. My Vet is really strict (boot camp
type) I have not had the opportunity or taken the time to train Pawko. He is
energetic but does listen when I tell him something. The vet trimmed his nails,
(Pawko was crying the whole time loudly) They took his temp. They layed him on
his side (?) to give him his shot. He bit her, like a real bite, hard and
invasive. She told me that when he comes in or goes anywhere to be sure
to tell them to muzzle him. Then she said, I need to train him properly
or get rid of him and give him to someone who can. That it would allow him
to be the best dog he can be. She said that if this dog bites a little kid, I
will be in big trouble. Am I wrong ~ or did she irritate the heck out of
him and he was scared and bit her ~ or is he a biter?? She said that I need to
get rid of one of my dogs if they fight all the time.
(just at dinner time and bedtime). Obiously I cried all the way home thinking
that I had let this little guy down by not teaching him how to act so that
he would not get in trouble. What do you think??? I need some sensible
opinions. Do you think this little guy was provoced??
Thank youso much, Diana
