mixed feelings over this.......... 2 pads would work great but then you will be confusing him on just where his potty spot is. Is there some way you can put the spot between the areas............. no you said that he sleeps/stays in your room a great deal. Sounds like the pad needs to be there.......... so go with 2 and just hope that he doesn't get confused. I love it at home(we are headed back home now for Christmas) we have the doggie door they use. I am so lucky
