Welcome to the group So glad you found a rescue. I have a doggie door that my 5 use. At night I don't know if it is dark, cold/ or they are just lazy but the use a pee pad at times. I use the washable ones. I bought the big pink hospital pads. The others don't work well with 5 chi's. I have a plastic bin that I store the solid pads in.... when I get 6 of them I wash them w/ 2 cup bleach, double amt of soap on hot and dry them on hot with softener sheet. The only one I have that will wear a sweater is Smudge. The others will not leave them on...... and with them going out by themselves I am not handy at all times to put te sweaters on anyway. In the back room where the doggie door is I have 3 old pillows with a comforter on top. n\ Next to it there is a larger space heater. When they get back from outside right to the heater bed they go to warm up........ they spend time there during the day also. Their regular bed has an electric blanket kept on med heat at all times that they enjoy laying in. I just have to remember to keep it turned on......only stays on for 10hrs at a time.
