I rescued my chi a little over 2 weeks ago from the humane society. He is a
great little dog and we have all bonded really well with him. He is however,
not doing real well with one of our two cats. The cat in question hisses and
growls at him and he has chased him a few times scaring him badly. We have a
child gate up separating the living room and kitchen from the four bedrooms so
the cat can have its safe place. He has gotten brave a couple of times and
jumped over the gate to check things out. The dog is on high alert when he
hears him jump over and he immediately tries to chase him. We have another cat
that he is friendly with about 90% of the time but sometimes he chases that one
too. I'm not sure what to do about this. Trying to refocus his attention when
he sees the cat or firmly scolding him doesn't seem to be working. I would
like peace back in my house. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
