I think what has me so nervous about how much time to be away from her at this point is because I keep hearing about low blood sugar. I have crate trained 2 labradors. a german shepherd, shih tzu, Chi/Rat Terrier Mix and a german shepher/boxer mix. I would never leave any of them in the crate longer than necessary. Last night my son put the pup to bed and I got her up an hour later, played with her for about 15 minutes, gave her some water and put her back. I got up 5 hours later. She was wake looking up at me, not whining and seemed okay. She was quite the little spit fire for the next hour and 15 minutes, then she crashed. We keep her out of her box as much as possible, pee pads down and she knows where they are and uses them. I never had a problem with any other dog us being away for 4-5 hours at a time as long as they could go potty and had food and water. I would think if she is okay to go 5 hours overnight then she would be okay us being gone 4-5 hours today. I would take her with us but 1. its storming, 2. I havent got a leash or harness for her. Havent found anything small enough and 3. I typically dont like to take a pup out in public until they have had 3 vaccinations. We will be as Walmart doing a fundraiser.
