I bought several waterproof orange whistles at Wal*Mart for about a buck each. Two long blasts means come to me and get the best treats...not kibble..not milkbones but cooked chicken, beef or steak :) my dogs and fosters learn this in case one gets out of the fence, a whistle carries over distances. My dogs literally turn on a dime and race to where ever I am to be the first to slam to a sit and get a top treat. I started this with my field Lab at the dog beach cuz he couldn't hear me. I keep a whistle in my car, by both doors and in my dog walking bag. Their instant recalls have impressed people I met while running my big guys loose.
