I presume you mean for the HP16500A?

Well, if it's the same as a HP1650B, then it's as follows :

1 = NC (+5)
2 = NC (PWR GND)
3 = CLK
4, 6, 8 ... 36, 38 = SIG GND
5 = NC
7 = D15
9 = D14
......
35 = D1
37 = D0
39 = NC (+5)
40 = NC (PWR GND)

AFAIK, the pod assembly is where some sort of RC compensation
network exists, in the two-pin probes that are within the pod assembly.
According to a diagram, this RC network consists of two resistors
in series, with a capacitor in parallel to the second resistor (the side
going to the LA).

Hope that helps, and BTW, what was the URL where you found the
disk images for your LA?
