I know I'm a little late on this, but is there a BIOS block at
2GB on your system?  Seems I've run into this before.

Set LBA, and never mind what it says. It will come up with something like 600 
cyls, and 128 or 255 heads. That's fine. You just don't appreciate how many 
lies ide controllers tell.
