Check the VIC-20 programmer's reference guide (ISBN 0-672-21948-4) page 218 
(and following) for a 6522 software description. The book also contains a 
schematic drawing of the VIC-20, so you have the pinouts for 6502 and 6522.

The Commodore 1541 floppy drive also used the two chips.

A very good collection of 8-bit stuff is the funet archive (ftp.funet.fi). 
It contains schematic scans, rom images, magazine articles and lots of 
other material that you'll need when dealing with this retro stuff.
