For the serial ports only, there were in the distant past these isa super i/o cards with ide, floppy, parallel & serial ports on them, and you configure whet you want. Many of these were half height. Perhaps root in a dead 386? P.S. If you only have pci slots, forget it. Does the 'mode' command work on it? You could direct stuff around the place with that in dos.
