Any fast recovery high voltage diode should do, just estimate current, pick a somewhat bigger one for voltage and current to be on the safe side.

Hi Folks,
I expect this will be an easy question. I'm trying to cross a diode from an electric fencer. I've looked in the NTE books, even in the older ECG and still older RCA cross refernece guides without success. The part number is GEA14P. The only cross I can come up with is for a surface mount diode. This device looks like one of those general purpose diodes that you find in consumer products made in the Pacific rim countries. By that I mean grey, spherical with two leads.
Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Many thanks. Chuck Eisnor
