Don't use bluetooth for home automation (it is simply to big and
complicated). ZigBee is a new coming standard and very simple protocol for
things like that. At client/slave side you only need the horsepower of a
8051. Bluetooth reuires at least a ARM controller ;-) (ZigBee is very new and
there are no chips available yet).

Some examples: a bluetooth device needs approx. 3 seconds to get logged in
the bluetooth network. A very long time for a light switch ;-). Zigbee
requires 30ms for this. A bluetooth chip needs much power (mobile phone
operation, you need to regularly recharge it). The Zigbee parts are deigned
to run 2 years from battery (hopefully :-).
