indeed it is a PROM and equivalants are
Signetics make 82 S series of Bipolar devices. TBP stands for Texas Bipolar
Proms. I used a lot of the TBP 18 series I guess 28 stands for 512 . The ones I
used were 74S188/TBP18SA030/82S23, 32X8 . A US firm DATA IO was saling the
Programmers/Readers for these devices, but I made one of my own, programming
the device Bit wise, real slow looking at the Programming requirements from the
Data Book. I am talking about the period 81/82, i still have that
programmer and it works. Such gadgets are component specific.
Bipolar technology gave good deal of speeds. Now
with new technology, it should be simple to use one of the modern fast PROMs,
provided addressing and control signals can be managed. I used the lot as a part
of Logic Analysers I designed and manufactured, the technic known as "Micro
Programming" during those days.
In case you can let me know the package(pin nos.) I
can look thru my Data Book collections and try and wortk out an equ. in the 82S
series. As far as I remember there is slight variations from make to make in the
Programming Volt pulse required to fuse the link, however it is manageble. Hi Lo
make Taiwan Universal programmers may also do the job. Where are you any way. I
