Sticking a dos-6.22 disk into w95 or w98 is usually the kiss of death to
the format, as dos uses 16 bit FATs and w95 on uses 32 bit and 16 bit
only for compatability reasons. Knowing m$, they didn't keep that up
foir too long.
One of your Dos disks Boots, doesn't it? Does the sys command work?
sys a: c: - puts system files found on a: and puts them on c:
With Dos-6.22, make sure you have nothing else on the disk. Dos has
failed to do this for me in the past, and Norton 6.0 has succeeded
because norton moves sectors out of the way, but the dod sys command
doesn't.
I'm surprised to find you putting effort into a 386. I have a 428mb disk
lying around here. If you want it, drop me a line privately and I'll
snail mail it to you. It's out of an old 286 laptop, but it has standard
fittings. It also has dos 6.22 IIRC.
