A few suggestions: Try feeding a video source through the video inputs. This bypasses the tuner/IF section. If the problem is still there, then the tuner is fine. Concentrate in the neighborhood of the video processor IC. From the description of the symptoms, looks like a component with a thermal breakdown. Get a spray can of component freezer. When the symptoms reoccur spray the suspect components one at a time until the color comes back. Warm up the area with a hair dryer and repeat the procedure until you nail down the bad boy. It could also be a cold solder joint somewhere just barely making contact when the TV is cold. Tap the suspect area with a long piece of plastic and watch what happens with the image.   Good luck.
