hi a.f.a.i.k. high-lvl = on.
note: If you use Vdd 12 V the control voltage high-level has to be 12 V too. Can't you use 4051, 4052, 4053 Analog-MUXes. These ICs can be supplied with e.g. +/- 5V to have +/- 5 V range for analog voltages centered around ground/zero volts, but only 5V CMOS-LVL is needed at control inputs. 74HCT405X even accepts 3 V as high level. My experience with 74HC/HCT 4066 and 405x is, that they do not like input voltages higher than ca 0.5V above Vdd (and below Vss). Voltages above Vdd/2 and below Vdd are absolutely no problem. regards Alois > As an electronics experimenter who is blind, I write down the > pin-outs of chips I am working with in Braille in a notebook. > Sometimes, I forget to write down crucial details that I just know > I'll remember as well as I do my name, but my brain sometimes doesn't > remember as well as I'd like. > > Are the Control lines for the 4 bilateral switches of a CD4016 > or a CD4066 active low or active high? > > I am going to be running one or two of these chips from a PIC, > actually, via a 7405 open collector hex inverter to shift levels from > +5V to +12v where the bilateral switches can switch a larger voltage > range.
