Hi!

It's cleaner to start your own query rather than ask a new question on
the end of another thread, as then those who thread messages get things
inline.

That said, you need application notes: Try Unitrode, Linear Tech, Maxim,
and National Semi for starters.

Unitrode has a series of power switches which they supported with
detailed "how to" Application notes. There is a limit to how big you
want to be for reasons of EMI, and great care would be required in
construction.
