I think some of the talking cards sold by Hallmark even had
a tiny microcassette deck in them, but I am not totally sure of
that. It has been a few years since they were popular, but I remember
hearing about a microcassette-style cartridge and sort of groaning as
to how clunky it all seemed.
I would have thought it would have been one of those ISD
non-volatile sound storage devices that store 10 or 20 seconds of
analog audio in CMOS memory cells, but it was electromechanical.
