Have you tried looking for those chips on: http://www.chipdir.org/js/reqchip.htm (There is even a German version: http://www.chipdir.org/js/reqchip_de.htm ) >you might want to check with your local chip broker and make a few extra bucks. Chip brokering is an international business and terminology like 'checking with your local chip broker' in the way that you use it makes no sense. Most brokers are non-stocking and any stocking broker is very unlikely to have any stock of the particular chip you're looking for because so many types and variations of chips have been produced over the years and the most popular ones in a broker's stock will sell out very soon and it's hard to replace a stock of obsolete or otherwise scarce chips. That's why most brokers use interbroker services like icsource.com as you have (limited) access to via the link above or Broker Forum and a lot of smaller ones. A lot of people seem to think that a broker is a kind of distributor, but it's quite a different world (although there is some overlap of course). >I need: > >200pcs TDA8707 in QFP44 package >200pcs STV8438 in QFP44 package > >I've seen a few Asian suppliers that supposedly have them in stock, but they don't >answer my faxes. And when they would answer your fax you stand a good chance of being ripped off. My partners in the USA (who handle all the requests that the Chipdir and my ads on Aufzu.de cause) have stopped buying chips in Asia from just any company, because of the many scams going on. Before this they tried to have an independent party in Asia inspect the chips first, but that didn't work out well enough. (I guess that it's still true that in order to do serious business with a person or company in South East Asia you first need to have met them in person.) As a broker you have some leverage against other brokers because you can denounce them to the ERAI (the organization of brokers), but as an individual you are very powerless when you don't receive the goods from Asia (or elsewhere) after having paid for it. Or when you receive the wrong parts like 'restamped parts'. >Any help is appreciated. My fax number in Germany is +49 241 12088, >or use [EMAIL PROTECTED] if the above address does not work. I have CC'ed this response to that email address, although you really should make sure that you can receive responses via the mailing list. ;-) BTW. For more information about the broker branch: http://www.chipdir.org/bro/ Before I started the Chipdir in 1995 I didn't even know that chip brokers existed. It took a lot of communication with brokers to gather al that information and to find the right ones to cooperate with.
