Probably not a useful suggestion in this case, but what I do to find
out what is in a machine is run the GentooLive CD.  It identifies
a lot of hardware.  http://www.gentoo.org/
It is a bootable CD, so if it is a Windows machine it will work, and it
will not harm Windows on the hard disk.
